Lucent Technologies was a technology company composed of what was formerly AT&T Technologies, which included Western Electric and Bell Labs. It was spun-off from AT&T on September 30, 1996.

Lucent merged with Alcatel SA of France, to form Alcatel-Lucent on December 1st, 2006. [2]


On the fly compilers that generate and publish code sequentially while
still processing XML data, cannot provide this size in advance. Optimizing compilers
that have knowledge of the complete XML data before generating the output can
provide this information to support more effective memory management on the client
machines. The Name Space Table supports dynamic extensions. When the
actual Name Space Table size is set in advance it improves client side behaviour.


Distributed computing is a method of computer processing in which different parts of a program run simultaneously on two or more computers that are communicating with each other over a network. 
Distributed computing is a type of segmented or parallel computing. But the latter term is most commonly used to refer to processing in which different parts of a program run simultaneously
on two or more processors that are part of the same computer.
 While both types of processing require that a program be segmented—divided into sections that can run simultaneously, 
distributed computing also requires that the division of the program take into account the different environments on which the different sections of the program will be running.
 For example, two computers are likely to have different file systems and different hardware components.


Inferno is a distributed operating system based on three basic principles:

Resources as files: all resources are represented as files within a hierarchical file system 
Namespaces: the application view of the network is a single, coherent namespace that appears as a hierarchical file system but may represent physically separated (locally or remotely) resources 
Standard communication protocol: a standard protocol, called Styx (9p2000), is used to access all resources, both local and remote
